Transition Announcement

ACTA Leadership Transition Announcement

On behalf of the ACTA Board, I have news to share about a transition in our organization. The Board has appointed a new Interim CEO and Registrar, Laura Hahn. For the past 14 years, Laura has contributed significantly to the development and leadership of ACTA. This new role is a natural next step for Laura, as her passion for public protection through statutory regulation and her continuing education in this area over many years has evolved into a new vocation. With Laura's leadership, the board anticipates a smooth transition and a hopeful future for ACTA and, ultimately, the CCTA.

Every new beginning also signals an ending. This transition also means that ACTA must say goodbye to Linda Sahli, our CEO and Registrar for over four years. Linda's last day with ACTA is June 5th. It will be a sad farewell, as the Board has worked closely with Linda over these years. Linda is an authentic, warm and openhearted leader—so it has felt like a genuine partnership with her, and we will miss her presence.

We are deeply grateful for the gift that Linda has been to ACTA. ACTA has benefitted in so many ways from Linda’s strategic and inspired leadership. In the first two years of her tenure, Linda developed the components of the CCTA and readied us to open the new college. This momentous body of work is still available to us and will enable us to launch the college when the government is ready to proclaim it. Linda then spent the next two years engaged in government, stakeholder, and Indigenous relations work on our behalf.

She has relentlessly sought opportunities to raise awareness of the need for regulation and to help move it forward. We would not be where we are today without Linda’s leadership—and when the college is proclaimed, her legacy will continue because of the foundational work she has done to develop it.  ACTA’s mandate resonates closely with Linda’s values and professional commitment to the public good. She will continue to live out this commitment in her new role as CEO of the College of Chiropractors of Alberta (CCOA).

Please join us in congratulating Linda on her new role with the CCOA, and wishing her well on this new professional journey. Please also join us in congratulating Laura and welcoming her into her new position in ACTA!

Laura Hahn
Interim CEO & Registrar for ACTA/CCTA

Laura is a Counselling Therapist registered with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and an Addiction Counsellor.  Laura has worked as an Addiction Counsellor in Lethbridge, Alberta, for the past 20-plus years, supporting recovery from complex addiction and mental health.

Laura recently completed her Master of Arts in Leadership, specializing in health, at Royal Roads University. Her thesis combined two meaningful endeavours, truth and reconciliation and statutory regulation. Laura researched how to embed truth and reconciliation into CCTA’s practices, policies, and leadership to address systemic racism as a regulatory college. The research was supervised by Indigenous scholar Dr. Michael Lickers and guided by Elder Casey Eagle Speaker to ensure research outcomes and recommendations establish cultural safeguards within CCTA’s processes, policies, and governance to protect First Nations peoples, Indigenous peoples and all Albertans.

Laura works and lives in alignment with her integrity, altruism, and relational values. As ACTA’s Interim CEO and Registrar, Laura is honoured to continue in humble relationships, learning and collaborating with ACTA’s Board of Directors, First Nations, Indigenous peoples, elected officials, and Albertans. It is personally and professionally meaningful for her to continue developing ACTA to receive Government’s proclamation and operationalize the CCTA in the public interest.
